Data Entitlement System (DES) - Summary

Industry approved compliance

DES has been deployed by several major investment banks, hedge funds, and retail brokers for over 15 years. Clients have used DES in audits and for data access control and reporting approval from various global data vendors and financial exchanges.

Centralized control and reporting

Entitlement systems are typically based in regions close to where users are located. This works well for vendor desktop access with local administration, however, many of these users also access applications located in data centers globally. DES can aggregate multiple entitlement systems to create a single central repository and control point for all user entitlements.

Vendor entitlements

DES can support integration with leading 3rd party vendor entitlement systems such as Refinitiv DACS* and Bloomberg EMRS *acting as a proxy for these systems so entitlements can be administered in the vendor solution and enforced by DES without the need to embed complex data vendor APIs in applications.

In-house entitlements

DES can include a simple entitlements database with administration and reporting tools, removing the need for vendor entitlement systems if required

Reduced business risk

DES is designed to notify applications of any entitlement system failures so applications can decide to override data controls and allow access to data in the event of an emergency. DES will continue to log usage to ensure compliance with 3rd party obligations. This reduces the risk of business impact from an infrastructure failure.

Simple, easy to use API

Applications can check user entitlements using a very simple XML protocol or the provided DES API. Our API is simple and easy to use, with source code included. Our API supports C/C++, C# and Java development languages.

High performance and low latency

DES is capable of processing in excess of 10K permission requests per second for each application with under 1 microsecond latency per request. This is achieved by storing entitlements in a local cache in the API to minimize network communications. Servers are deployed in a horizontally scalable cluster and each node is capable of recording over 250K usage log messages per second.

Reliable

DES servers are deployed in a high availability cluster so applications and users will not be impacted by the failure of any individual component within the system.

Data control

DES is seamlessly integrated with our MD Direct APIs, enabling robust entitlement enforcement and comprehensive usage tracking.

Monitoring

DES easily integrated with industry leading support platform Datadog
